Jonesborough, TN – Tennessee’s oldest town is the Storytelling Capital of the World and has shopping and dining along Main Street. Lots of events and festivals too.

Tipton-Haynes State Historic Site – Located in Johnson City, they have a 1784-era home on 45 acres with historic buildings, a cemetery, cave, natural spring, nature trail, and visitor center.

Gray Fossil Site & Museum – a hands-on all-ages science center with interactive exhibits and an active fossil dig site.

Exchange Place – an 1850s living history farm.

Andrew Johnson National Historic Site – the homestead of the 17th President and his final resting place, including a national cemetery open to all veterans.

Rogersville, TN – nice Main Street with shopping, food, and some historic sites.
